I love reading blog posts and watching youtube videos about people’s favorite things. Maybe because I love to shop and they give me new ideas. So I wanted to make my own favorites posts each month to share with you the things that I’ve been loving. Here are my October favorites and the products, books, and podcasts you need to check out.
Favorites videos have always been one of my favorite types of videos to watch on youtube. I don’t know why. Probably because I love shopping and those videos give me ideas for things to get haha. But I wanted to start making my own favorites post every month to share the things I’m loving with you.
the products, books, & Podcasts you need to check out
products
LMNT electrolyte powder
Chris and I both love this electrolyte powder. I always add electrolytes into my water so that it actually hydrates me. Water itself isn’t hydrating. The minerals inside it are. The bad thing is that most water sources are depleted of all the minerals they should have. If you feel like you’re constantly drinking water, but you’re still always thirsty, you may need to add some electrolytes to your water. It’s important to make sure the brand you’re using uses good quality minerals. That’s why I love LMNT. The ingredients are great and it also tastes amazing. I love the raspberry and watermelon flavors.
fabuletta cordless vacuum cleaner
This cordless vacuum is a dupe for the Dyson cordless vacuum. It’s a fraction of the price which makes it awesome. I bought it shortly after we got married in May, so maybe this doesn’t count as an October favorite. But I love it so much that I had to add it. (I plan on making a household item favorites post, and you can bet this vacuum will be in it).
I’ve only ever had corded vacuums, so this cordless one is a game changer. It’s so nice to be able to go wherever you want to and not have to worry about it ripping out of the wall. I used to think I hated sweeping, but it turns out I just hated the hassle that came with the cord haha. First world problems I know. Even though it’s relatively small in comparison to other vacuums, it does its job really well.
queen of the thrones liver castor oil pack
Castor oil packs are something I recently started learning about and decided to try. I haven’t been doing it very long, but I love it so far! Castor oil packs are great for liver detox, lymphatic drainage, hormonal balance, sleep, digestive support, and more. I can always tell a huge difference in my sleep whenever I wear it overnight. And I also can tell a huge difference in my digestion and energy the day after.
toups & co frankincense face balm
I love using this face balm as a moisturizer at night. It’s made with beef tallow which is great for your skin. I know, that probably sounds weird. But the benefits that tallow provides for your skin far outweigh the weirdness factor. Once it’s whipped, it doesn’t have a weird smell or texture at all. It just feel like you’re putting coconut oil on your face. This one has frankincense oil in it as well which is also amazing for you skin. It’s specifically great at evening out your skin tone and improving fine lines and wrinkles.
Bloom Brightening Cleanser
This cleanser is a great option if you’re looking for a more natural and non-toxic face wash. It smells great and cleans my face well without stripping it of all the good oils. My skin always feels nice and clean and fresh after I use this cleanser. I’ve noticed a huge improvement in my skin since I’ve been using it as well. Once I moved in with my husband, my skin started breaking out more often than usual. I think that was because I moved out of city limits and so I no longer had city water. Our well water here is very hard, and I think it was clogging up my pores and causing break outs. Once I started using this cleanser, my skin cleared up almost right away.
books
Before I share my favorite books from this month, I wanted to share that I have a whole section in my blog dedicated to books. Go check it out if you want some good recommendations!
Louise Penny books
I started reading her books in the summer, but I haven’t shared about them yet, so I figured I’d share them now. I’ve been reading her Chief Inspector Gamache series and I love them! They’re little mysteries, but they aren’t super scary or gory. And they take place in a small town which makes them seem so cozy. I also love how each book has the same characters in it, so you get to know them and follow along with their story within each book. If you’ve read any of Agatha Christie’s books (which I also highly recommend), these are very similar.
virtuous by nancy wilson
I read this book a while ago, but wanted to read it again now that I’m a wife. She goes through a bunch of traits that a virtuous woman should have. Things like diligence, cheerfulness, prudence, and more. I love all of Nancy Wilson’s books, but this is one of my favorites because it’s so practical and applicable to all seasons of life!
praise her in the gates: the calling of christian motherhood by nancy wilson
Another Nancy Wilson book. This one was also really good. As you can tell by the title, in this one, she talks about all things Christian motherhood. While I’m not a mother yet, it’s never to early to start preparing and learning for that season of life.
eve in exile and the restoration of femininity by rebekah merkle
This is another book that I’ve already read, and she’s actually Nancy Wilson’s daughter haha. I’m just a huge fan of that family and all of their books if you can’t tell. In this one, she talks about femininity and what being a Christian woman means. She goes through the history of feminism which is very interesting, and in a way that I’ve never seen. Then she goes through several jobs women were created for based on the creation of Eve, and then practical ways to apply those jobs in our lives. I highly recommend this book to all women to learn more about biblical femininity.
podcasts
fully nourished with jessica ash
I love learning about holistic health, but a lot of people are starting to make it too stressful and overwhelming. I love Jessica Ash and her podcast because she makes it simple and light-hearted. She doesn’t fear-monger you like so many other people do. My favorite part of her philosophy and her podcast is that she always ties it back to femininity. The female body needs different things than the male body does, and a lot of health people don’t talk about that. The female needs rest, nourishment, and safety a lot more than the male does. Jessica always ties everything she talks about back to female physiology and focuses on slowing down and destressing.
I’ve always loved learning about the differences between men and women. It’s always been so fascinating to me. So learning more about female physiology and how to embrace your femininity instead of living in a more masculine place is so interesting. It’s also been so helpful because it’s something I’ve been focusing on lately. I’ll talk more about this in a post soon, but I’ve been kind of stuck in a masculine place for a while. By that I mean that I’ve been too focused on being busy and getting things done, and less on slowing down, embracing my feminine roles, and just being instead of doing.
bright hearth with brian and lexy sauve
This is my all time favorite podcast for learning about Christian marriage. They talk about anything and everything you could think of in that category. Homemaking, cooking, health and wellness, sex, decorating, cleaning, raising children, finances. Literally everything. I love it so much and it always encourages me to be a better wife and homemaker. It’s great for the season I’m currently in as a new wife because I still have so much to learn. Brian and Lexy also remind me a lot of Chris and I, so I know that a lot of the things they talk about will also bring value to our home as well.
